Adjectives Ideas and a Freebie

Looking for some cute activities for your students to do while learning about adjectives?

Holly Bloggy Christmas

Riddle Me

Do you use riddles to help your students think at a higher level or maybe just to make them smile.  (I am awful at riddles, does that mean I can't think at a higher level?)

The idea at Education World was to make a bingo cards with just the answers then play giving the riddle as the call out.  Maybe a fun party game for the Halloween party?   What do you think?

Who is Mrs. Claus?

Ana at Ingles 360 has an adorable page on her blog dealing with Mrs. Claus. She has some great activities and questions with printables available for free on her blog.

If you teach about alliterations, she has  Christmas alliterations or tongue twisters to use around Christmas since those of us in the Northern Hemisphere are rather warm right now. :0)

FREE Memorial Day Resources

 Ingles 360 shared this free resource from Currclick.  The items and the coupon code ( memorialdayFREE )  are listed at the bottom of the linked page.  Memorial Day is a nice break from school and with the three day weekend a great time to enjoy family, but it is also the time to remember those that paid the ultimate price and those who are serving to protect us all.

Figurative Language PowerPoint Activity for Spring or Easter

Figurative language is the topic being practiced while playing this game.

There are 18 questions for practice and it only takes three-in-a-row to win, so every time you play it is different. Trying to get a three of your bunnies in a row adds a sense of excitement to this PowerPoint activity.

Students will choose between metaphors, similes, onomatopoeia, personification, hyperboles and idioms. This game is a good way to review these types of figurative in preparation for mandated testing. There is also a choice of answer not chosen so students have to determine if there really is any figurative language at all.

A great activity for the whole class or for just a few students. The winner is determined by which team gets three of their bunnies in a row. Directions are included in the game preview and in the file with the game.

I have posted a new game to review study skills.  Dictionary skills such as alphabetical order, using guide words, etc. are just a few of the skills being reviewed while playing this game.  Put some fun into reviewing for mandated testing.
